Modern Underfloor Heating Solutions in a Full Residential Renovation in Ekali
A complete renovation of a three-store residence with a total area of 500 m² was carried out in Ekali, featuring the installation of an underfloor heating system by the Austrian manufacturer VARIOTHERM.
For the main application, the VarioFix studded panel system, without integrated insulation, was selected and combined with appropriately designed thermal insulation and VarioProfile 16×2 Plus+ multilayer piping. The system was installed directly over the existing ceramic tile flooring, and the construction was completed with the application of a special thermal screed, delivering a surface fully prepared for the final floor finish.
In parallel, on the first floor of the residence, where low weight and limited construction height were critical design requirements, the VarioComp dry underfloor heating system was applied. This level utilized specially shaped 18 mm gypsum-fiber boards in combination with VarioProfile 11.6 × 1.5 Laser multilayer pipes. The system was installed over the existing floor following the completion of all necessary plumbing preparatory works.
To minimize thermal losses, a 10 mm XPS 10-200 extruded polystyrene insulation board with a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK was installed, while a 0.1 mm polyethylene (PE) membrane was placed prior to the installation of the gypsum-fiber boards.
The overall solution ensures high energy efficiency, excellent thermal comfort, and optimal adaptation to the structural and architectural constraints of the residence.
