Integrated cooling, heating & DHW solutions for one of the largest resorts in Greece, located in Evia

CLUB MED, one of the largest hotel chains in the world, trusts AERMEC to meet its needs for cooling, heating, and Domestic Hot Water (DHW). The resort in Gregolimano, North Evia, includes more than 380 rooms distributed across three main multi-storey buildings, as well as bungalows and suites, all with high cooling-load and DHW-demand requirements.

In March 2015, the latest expansion phase of Club Med Gregolimano was completed, which included the addition of 152 new FCW-VN wall-mounted fan coils and three heat pumps with a total installed capacity of 430 kW. This phase involved the installation of a multi-function NRP series heat pump capable of simultaneous cooling/heating operation and DHW production through total heat recovery, achieving significant energy savings. In the same phase, two additional NRL series heat pumps were installed, each equipped with an integrated desuperheater for enhanced DHW production.

Over the previous four years, four additional upgrade phases had taken place at the resort. These included the installation of two air-cooled heat pumps from AERMEC’s NS series with screw compressors, and two from the NRL series with scroll compressors and partial heat-recovery desuperheaters for DHW support, as well as more than 300 floor-mounted, wall-mounted, and concealed fan coil units. As a result, the total installed capacity now reaches 1,800 kW, with approximately 500 fan coils serving the resort’s needs. It is worth noting that all heat pumps are equipped with copper–copper coils for increased durability in the corrosive seaside environment, while all fan coils include integrated three-way valves.

Finally, the entire climate-control system of the resort is managed via AERMEC’s central BUS/VMF control system, offering full parameterization and monitoring of zone temperatures, operating and fault indications, temperature-range locking, and various other functions.
