Full Apartment Renovation with Dry Construction Underfloor System in Trikala
A full renovation was completed for a 140 m² apartment in the city of Trikala, featuring the installation of a dry construction underfloor heating and cooling system by the Austrian manufacturer VARIOTHERM. The VarioComp system was applied using specially engineered 18 mm fibre-gypsum boards, combined with VarioProfile multilayer pipes (11.6 × 1.5 Laser).
The system was installed directly over the existing apartment floor, following the completion of all necessary preparatory works related to the plumbing installations. To minimize heat losses, a 10 mm extruded polystyrene (XPS 10-200) insulation board with a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK was installed, while a 0.1 mm polyethylene (PE) membrane was applied prior to the placement of the fibre-gypsum panels.
The multilayer pipe was laid at a 10 cm spacing in a spiral (“snail”) configuration, ensuring uniform temperature distribution across the floor surface. This was followed by the application of VARIOTHERM Filling Compound T7 over the entire area, creating a continuous and stable substrate before the installation of the final floor finish.
The system was designed to operate in combination with an air-source heat pump, fully covering the apartment’s heating and cooling requirements. The complete installation of the VarioComp system was carried out within seven days and delivered with the surface ready for tile installation as the final floor finish, ensuring high thermal comfort and excellent energy efficiency.
