Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis”

Upgrade and Modernization of the Central Air-Conditioning System

With the energy upgrade of the central air-conditioning system at Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis”, the expansion and renovation of the airport’s internal areas were successfully completed. The modernization of the HVAC system was carried out through the replacement of six air-cooled AERMEC heat pumps, model NRB1600XHAR00, with a total installed cooling capacity of 2.55 MW.

The heat pumps feature high energy efficiency, with a seasonal efficiency rating ESEER 4.04 and the highest possible EUROVENT energy class A, achieving a COP of 3.21. In addition, they are equipped with copper–copper heat exchangers for enhanced resistance to the demanding environmental conditions, a C-TOUCH color touchscreen, and Modbus protocol expansion cards for seamless communication with the airport’s central building management system.
